BERTRAND DORNY was born in 1931 in Paris, where he died on 06/19/2015. Teacher of drawing, engraving, painter and engraver. Professor of drawing at the Académie de la Grande-Chaumière, then of engraving at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, Bertrand Dorny made this technique his privileged means of expression until 1991. His work on collages in made an important player in the renewal of the manuscript book from the 1980s. Among its more than five hundred artists' books, many are kept at the BnF, at the Jacques-Doucet Literary Library in Paris, at the Beinecke Library at Yale ( United States). Present in 2014 at the exhibition “Praise of rarity, one hundred treasures from the reserve of rare books at the BnF”, his bibliophilic work has been the subject of major personal exhibitions, notably at the Center Pompidou in Paris (1995), at the BnF (1992, 2003) and at the Bibliotheca Wittockiana in Brussels (1992, 2006).
