MAXIME GODARD was born in 1949 in Châlons-sur-Marne and lives between France and Italy. Childhood in Suippes, where his aunt Jeanne Noyelle photographs the family with a 6 x 9 bellows Voigtländer. After training as a chaser and graduating from the fine arts of Paris in painting, since 1981 he has been practicing photographic portraits of artists, writers, musicians and animals. He met Michel Butor in 1983, with whom he produced around fifteen printed or handwritten works as well as around forty plates. In addition to personal exhibitions in France and Italy, he accompanies his works with numerous exhibitions by Michel Butor, from Japan to Iceland via Morocco.
